It lies in the far western part of Nepal. The Dolpo region is famous for the snow leopard and blue sheep. It lies beyond the Dhaulagiri Himalayas. Dolpo region is considered as one of the most remote and isolated region of Nepal. The Upper Dolpa treks comprises of high passes and steep trail through the forest with sceneries of the waterfalls.

The upper Dolpa treks begin from Jupal after short flight from Nepalgunj. This area is highly populated by the Tibetan Buddhists and Bon Po doctrine. We can see nomadic form of lifestyle in Dolpa region. The trail to Dolpa passes through Phoksundo Lake, Tarakot village, Kangla Pass, Shey Gompa, Saldand la Pass, Jeng La Pass, Dho Tarap etc.
A special trekking permit is required to visit Dolpo region of Nepal.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Meet and assistance at the Airport by our representative and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Commence on Half day sightseeing of Kathmandu city and Swyambhunath.
After breakfast, commence on half day sightseeing of Kathmandu city and Swambhunath. Rest of the day is free for the preparation of Trekking.

Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj
After breakfast, fly Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. Rest of the day is free at your own to stroll around the local market in Nepalgunj.

Day 4: Fly Nepalgunj to Jhupal (Dolpo 2320m) and trek to Dunai (2850m) 2-3 hrs walk
After breakfast, drive to the Nepalgunj airport to fly to Jhupal. The flight is 45 minutes and we can see Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range through the aircrafts. Once we arrive at Jhupal and we will trek to Dunai. We will pass through the Bheri River through the easy trail.

Day 5: Dunai to Ankhe (2660m) 5-6 hrs
After breakfast, we will trek to Ankhe. On the way we will cross the suspension bridge and newly built Hospital. We will trek along the river bank and we will reach to Hanke Village. The Hanke village is get way to the Shey Phoksundo. We will pass Parela and later we will reach Ankhe.

Day 6: Ankhe to Renje (2660m) 5-6 hrs
After breakfast, we will trek to Renje. Today’s trail is quite steep and narrow. We also find the huge hanging rock cliff.

Day 7: Renje to Phoksundo Lake (3600m) 6-7 hrs
After breakfast, we will trek to the Renje. On the way we will get the opportunity to see the Phoksundo Lake. We will climb down to the Phoksundo Khola near the Ringmo Village and later again climb to reach Phoksundo Lake.

Day 8: Explore around the Phoksundo Lake
Today we will explore around the Phoksundo which is densely surrounded by the Tibetans settlements. We will see yak caravans heading to their destinations.

Day 9: Phoksundo Lake to Phoksundo Khola (3507m) 5-6 hrs
After breakfast, we begin to trek following the edge of the Phoksundo Lake. Now slowly we will enter to the upper Dolpa. Firstly, we will climb and later we will descend to the Phoksundo Khola.

Day 10: Phoksundo Khola to Phoksundo Bhannjyang (4402m) 5-6 hrs
After breakfast, we will trek to Phoksundo Bhanjyang. The trail is more smooth and straight today. We will cross wooden bridge at the confluence of the glacial stream and Phoksundo Khola. We will pass monastery on the way.

Day 11: Cross the Kang La pass (5151m) and trek to Shey Gompa (4126m) 6-7 hrs
After breakfast, we will start our trek. Today we will cross the technical Kang La pass. We will reach top of the hill after ascending couple of hours. We will relax for some time and then again we will descend to the river bank. We will see red color monastery (Shey Gompa) and reach Shey Gomba monastery after sometime.

Day 12: Rest and exploration day at Shey Gompa
Today is the acclimatization day. We will hike nearby to be fit with the altitude. We will visit historic Shey Gompa today. We will also visit Chaiba community. The Shey Gompa monastery was built in 11th century to teach the animism of Buddha. The Shey Gompa monastery is regarded as one of the best historic sites in Dolpa region.

Day 13: Cross the Saldang La Pass (4785m), and trek to Namduna Gaon (4400m) 5-6 hrs
After breakfast, we will trek to Namduna Gaon. The trail towards the Namduna is flat and straight but winding a lot. We will cross the Salding La Pass. Once we climb down we will reach Namduna village. We can see lot of villagers doing agricultural and animal husbandry.

Day 14: Namduna Gaon to Salding (3903m) 3-4 hrs
After breakfast, we will trek to Saldang. The trail is dusty. We will pass through the wide and plain terrain at Saldang. It is one of the beautiful villages in the Dolpa region. The village stretches quite long and it’s a good place for the agricultural production.

Day 15: Saldang to Sibu (3942m) 3-4 hrs
After breakfast, we will trek down to the river bed across the picturesque terraced fields. On the way, we will pass through various Chhortens and Mani. After walking some time we will reach Sibu

Day 16: Sibu to the foot of the Jeng La (4369m) 4-5 hrs
After breakfast, we will trek to Jeng La. We will find stream after walking few hours. Later we will reach to the Jeng La.

Day 17: Cross the Jeng La Pass (4845m) trek to Tokyu Gaon (4240m) 6-7 hrs
After breakfast, we trek to the Jeng la pass which is at the altitude of 4845 meters. Today we will pass Tarap Valley, Tarap Chu. Once we ascend from Tarap chu, we will reach to the Tokyu Gaon. We will also see the people working in the terraced fields.

Day 18: Tokyu Gaon to Dhotarap (4090m) 4-5 hrs
Early in the morning, we hike to the Chaiba Gompa. This monastery has the long history and beautiful architecture.

Day 19: Dho Tarap to Serkam (3630m) 5-6 hrs
After breakfast, we trek to the Serkam. We will pass through the gorge. Today we will also able to see Himalayan animals. Once we reach Serkam, we will see good campsite near the French School. We will find both Tibetan and Buddhists people stay around the village.

Day 20: Serkam to Khani Gaon (2550m) 5-6 hrs
After breakfast, we trek to the Khani Gaon. We will follow the gorge of the Tarap Rivers. We will choose suitable place at Khani Gaon for our camp site.

Day 21: Khani Gaon to Tarakot (2281m) 3-4 hrs
After breakfast, we trek to the Tarakot. Tarakot is surrounded by the Dzong (fort) which was a capital when Nepal was divided in 22/24 mini estates. Sandul Gompa is located in a bit far distance of it

Day 22: Tarakot to Dunai (2052m) 4-5 hrs
After breakfast, we trek to the Dunai. The trail today is quite wide. We will walk above the Thuli Bheri River. Later we will reach district headquarter of the Dolpa region (Dunai).

Day 23: Dunai to Juphal (2404m) 3 hrs
After breakfast, we will trek to the Dunai via sloppy trail. Once you reach the top of hill, we can see the Juphal below. The motor trail made it quite easy otherwise it used to be quite rough trail.

Day 24: Fly to Nepalgunj from Jhupal
After breakfast, transfer to the Jhupal airport for the flight to Jhupal

Day 25: Fly Kathmandu from Nepalgunj
After breakfast, drive to the Nepalgunj airport for the flight to Kathmandu

Day 27: Departure transfer
After breakfast, transfer to the Kathmandu International airport in time to bound for the flight to Kathmandu.
